Other Common Names:
Mangrove Red Snapper.
Upper body dark red to bronze.
Lower body slightly lighter red or bronze with white edges on scales.
Long snout and a hard mouth with very long teeth.
Juveniles and young adults occur in mangrove
estuaries and freshwater streams.
Adults in saltwater around shallow coral reefs,
but large specimens can sometimes be found
around offshore reefs in up to 100 meters depth.
Bottom fishing from anchor with live or dead prawns and squid.
Bottom fishing with pieces of tuna, scad, mackerel or sardine.
A tough fighter, that really knows its way around a coral reef!
